It has also expanded the toolbox of archaeological \nmethods. While traditional methods remain important and continue to be \nused to investigate past human societies over time and space, novel \nquantitative approaches are rapidly gaining momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Sessions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The three main sessions will deal with the topics&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>quantitative approaches in spatial and non-spatial archaeological case studies.<\/li><li>data mining and new techniques of supervised and unsupervised pattern recognition in archaeological and environmental datasets.<\/li><li>applications and approaches to socioecological modelling on different scales and temporal resolutions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Keynotes speakers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Juan A. Barcel\u00f3<\/em>; Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona<br>\n<em>Michael Barton<\/em>; Arizona State University<br>\n<em>Mikhail Kanevsk<\/em>i; University of Lausanne<br>\n<em>Oliver Nakoinz<\/em>; University of Kiel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>R workshop <em>or<\/em> Field trip<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the third day of the colloquium, 6th February 2019, participants \nwill have the opportunity to join a R workshop. They will work on real \narchaeological data and learn the application of advanced machine \nlearning techniques.
